This is an exciting opportunity to progress your career and obtain experience working in the Courts and Prosecution Services Division (CPSD) of the Victoria Police Legal Services Department (LSD).

Victoria Police's LSD provides legal services and advice to support policing, courts, and the Victorian Community.

The LSD is led by an Executive Director (who is also the organisation's General Counsel) and employs over 800 staff spread across four divisions - the Office of the Executive Director; the Specialist Legal and Litigation Division; the CPSD; and the Legal Business Operations Division.

This position is located within the Legal Training Group with the role primarily based at the Legal Training and Development Unit (LTDU).

This unit is primarily responsible for the delivery of training to police officers and police lawyers from across Victoria, to obtain the Graduate Certificate of Police Prosecutions (POL87115).

As a result of this training, a new position has been created in the unit to ensure the smooth delivery of training services, including making bookings, collating evidence of submitted course work, recording of completion dates, compilation of statistics and the provision of course related documentation.

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate an ability to be organised, proactive and strong communication skills.

Your duties will include:


  • Assist in the administration of the Graduate Certificate in Police Prosecution which delivers training to a large cohort of Police Prosecutors and Lawyers.
  • Provide high quality of customer service to clients across all roles within the Legal Services Department as well as external stakeholders.
  • Undertake a wide range of data entry, information management and statistical recording functions.
  • Under supervision, exercise sound judgement and discretion about the release of sensitive and confidential information in compliance with Victoria Police policy.
  • Other duties as directed by the Officer in Charge, LTDU.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Demonstrated administration experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and organisation skills.
  • The ability to maintain up to date records and compile reports.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Flexibility to support a work unit that has continuously evolving needs.

Requirements and relevant information:


  • One (1) x fulltime, ongoing position available.
  • This position is located at the Legal Training & Development Unit, Level 6, 456 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne.
  • Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo preemployment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
  • As a member of the Legal Services Department, you will be located on selection, at a specific office within a Division for a particular advertised opportunity. However, given occasional legal service demand issues you may be required at times to undertake varied work within the Department. This supports the Departments commitment to a flexible and deployable legal workforce and professional development opportunities in a range of legal domains.
