About the role:


As the successful applicant, you will perform as a musician (multi-skilled Pipe Band Drummer) with the Victoria Police Pipe Band.

Reporting to the Music Director, Victoria Police Pipe Band, whose primary role is to support corporate (Victoria Police) and government programmes, including ceremonial and community engagements.

Victoria Police is a contemporary and agile workplace and supports flexible working arrangements.


Your duties will include:


  • Participate in corporate (Victoria Police) and government programs, including ceremonial and community engagement events as a multiskilled Pipe Band drummer.
  • Participate and contribute to training activities to ensure a high standard of performance.
  • Maintain quality of all uniform items, musical instruments and IT equipment, ensuring optimal condition.
  • Assist in the loading and unloading of equipment and driving of nonoperational police vehicles.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Proven skills as a multi-skilled Pipe Band drummer (Snare, Bass and Tenor) at a level at or commensurate with Pipe Bands Australia (PBA)
  • Intermediate Certificate (or equivalent).
  • Ability to perform whilst marching.
  • Substantive ensemble and solo performance knowledge and experience.
  • To be assessed as having a performance standard equivalent to PBA
  • Intermediate Certificate level (or equivalent) for the musical role required.

Requirements and relevant information:


  • One (1) x parttime (0.6FTE) ongoing position; and
  • One (1) x parttime (0.6FTE) fixed term position available from 07/08/2023 to 24/05/2024 (parental leave backfill).
  • For both positions, the salary plus superannuation will be pro rata.
  • Both positions will be located at the Victoria Police Academy, 1 View Mount Road, Glen Waverley, Vic. 3150.
  • Both positions require out of hours, weekend and public holiday shifts.
