The Role

Working within the Combat Air Support (CAS) Program, you will be alongside a team of experienced Air Force personnel to provide administrative and program support to the Airbase Operations (ABOPS) Team in the development and enhancement of Australian airbase capabilities.


A key component of this role will be forecasting, coordinating and tracking ABOPS inputs to Defence Senior Committees and forums to support the teams proactivity and responsiveness in their flow of information and decision making; both within Air Force and with other Defence Groups and Services.


To achieve this, you will build and maintain an understanding of the Defence capability management requirements and procedures particularly with Ministerial and senior Defence Committee submissions.

Your role will require collecting and analysing data to provide assistance in the preparation of written submissions, briefs, inquiry outcomes, corporate reports, minutes and correspondence for ABOPS and Defence stakeholders.

The Directorate of Air Base Operations (ABOPS) is responsible for the strategic management and associated capability development of Defence airbases and the Air Basing Capability.

ABOPS sits within Air Force Headquarters (AFHQ) under Air Capability Enablers Branch - Air Force (ACEBR-AF).

Team members produce analysis and briefs individually and collectively, represent their sections and have opportunities to become familiar with how Air Force works at the Strategic Headquarters level.

The Directorate reports to senior military officers and develops agendum papers for senior Defence Committees and ministerial submission.
