The Role

The Industrial Policy team provides policy, governance and administrative services to support the directorate, and is accountable for the ADF remuneration policy coordination, and implementation of the ADF Workplace Remuneration Arrangement.

You will have a wide range of information sources, reporting systems and data for actionable purposes.

They will be able to demonstrate:

  • Highly effective communication skills, with ability to deliver concise, accurate written material appropriate to target audience;
  • The ability to deliver outcomes within agreed timeframes, often with rapidlychanging priorities;
  • Experience in, or aptitude to quickly acquire a working knowledge of Industrial Relations.

About our Team

The Directorate of Military Remuneration (DMR) in People Policy and Employment (PPEC) branch is primarily responsible for developing and managing ADF remuneration cases for consideration by the Defence Force Remuneration Tribunal (DFRT).

In addition, DMR manages policy in relation to complex military remuneration matters regarding ADF salaries, allowances and superannuation.


In addition, each Service; Army, Navy, Air Force have their own Industrial Relations cells responsible for advancing pay cases through DMR on behalf of their respective members.


Responsibilities:


  • Leading, planning and managing reform activities relating to ADF remuneration;
  • Developing and providing evidence based policy solutions including both verbal and written recommendations on conditions of service;
  • Representing the Branch or Service at both internal and external forums with a range of stakeholders, encouraging a collaborative approach to achieving sustainable remuneration outcomes for ADF members;
  • Preparing high level committee papers, ministerial correspondence and advice for senior leadership;
  • Requesting the drafting of legislative determinations;
  • Supporting governance structures, knowledge management and decision making processes;
  • Developing and managing project plans, including evaluation reporting;
  • Leading a small team of both APS and ADF members.
