The Role

Under broad direction the position will be focussed on Program Management (Resources) supporting the Next Generation Technologies Fund (NGTF) and be accountable to manage financial budget and reporting outcomes.


The routine business activities that the role will undertake includes analysis of costs and forecasts, preparation of reports and briefs, auditing of business transactions and engagement with internal and external stakeholders to secure financial and costing information for assurance purposes.

The key responsibilities and duties for the position are:

  • Management of budgets which includes monthly financial reporting activities and processes.
  • Oversee project cost performance activities and provide accurate and timely information and advice to stakeholders.
  • Evaluate the costing rationale and justifications of procurements and contract proposals to produce recommendations for management.
  • Supervise a small team and implement work plans for the work area including setting tasks and priorities, managing workflow and allocating resources.
  • Contribute to the delivery of the Strategic Plan by assisting with the development, review and implementation of processes and systems to support current and future business requirements.

About our Team
The SSPE Divisional Operations Team is geographically dispersed based in Edinburgh (SA), Fishermans Bend (VIC) and Fairbairn (ACT).

The Division Operations Team is responsible for providing professional support, services and advice to the Chief of SSPE and division staff on the operational functions of the division which includes Security, Infrastructure, Work Health & Safety, Recruitment and Workforce Planning.


The SSPE co-ordinates and develops DSTs external engagements and leads the development of science policy, the formulation of strategic research programs, and the investment of resources into DSTs science and technology capabilities.

You will work independently to manage a team, build and sustain effective relationships and provide constructive feedback. Excellent time management and accountability for the accurate completion of work within timeframes is expected.
