The Animal Referral Hospital is excited to open our fifth Specialist and Emergency Hospital in New South Wales and are currently looking for a Veterinary Clinical Director to join the team.

You will have the chance to play an integral part in the growth of the hospital and contribute to the design and planning. Under the guidance and mentorship of Dr. Peter Chitty, you will be provided with extensive CE and learning development opportunities.

This is the perfect opportunity for an experienced Specialist & Emergency Veterinarian looking to step out of their full-time clinical position and into a combined managerial role.

Job Description

Based in Minchinbury and opening in September 2023, this multidisciplinary veterinary hospital will offer Western Sydney pet owners and their pets access to Emergency and Specialist services. The site will offer a full diagnostic imaging suite including High-field MRI, CT, Fluoroscopy, Endoscopy and Ultrasound. A start-of-the-art ICU, three operating theatres and integrated RX works, VetS8 and Smartflow to support patient management.

The site will have dedicated training facilities including wet lab and education centre.

This is a full-time role to work as part of our multi-disciplinary referral team which offers a 24-hour emergency service and specialist services such as critical care, internal medicine, diagnostic imaging, surgery, oncology and radiation oncology, cardiology, behaviour, and physiotherapy.

The position combines clinical shifts and management responsibilities. As a Clinical Director, you will:

Establish best practice processes for the department
Communicate the vision of the hospital and key department updates to your team to promote a positive work environment
Ensure the department meets financial targets to sustain growth
Work with the business manager and other department heads to develop growth strategies
Complete performance reviews for team members to identify their areas of current success and areas for their future professional growth

In addition to the above, you will be involved in the interviewing of new emergency veterinarians and case complaints that are escalated to a point that require your input, as such scenarios arise.

Qualifications

About You

You are motivated, committed to patient care, and share a vision for a collaborative working environment, where referring veterinarians and pet owners receive personal gold standard service. This position requires interaction with the hospital business manager and practice manager as well as a large team of specialists, veterinarians and nurses. Excellent communications skills and an ability to lead a team are essential.

About Your Skills & Experience

You must have a Bachelor of Veterinary Science, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, or other relevant qualification eligible for registration as a veterinary practitioner in NSW
Minimum of 5-8+ years working in a 24/7 Emergency and Speciality Care hospital
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
A demonstrated ability to successfully lead teams
Strategic thinking to refine and grow the service
Management training (formal or informal through CPD) would be advantageous
