The Hospital:
This is a level 2 hospital (354) beds with 24-hour cardiac intervention, trauma service, medical specialities including Respiratory, Nephrology, Neurology, Endocrine, Rheumatology, Oncology on site with visiting specialists in other disciplines.
To reflect the growing demand for health care in the region, the Hospital has been redeveloped at a cost of $408 million. The redeveloped hospital is a digital hospital, equipped with leading edge technology to assist staff to provide the highest level of care and comfort to patients. It is the first regional hospital in Queensland to have the complete integrated electronic medical record.
Location:
A vibrant tropical location, home to a diverse and energetic community with rural and coastal living opportunities. The region stretches from secluded islands off the coast through golden sand beaches and into lush sub-tropical rain forests.
This is one of the fastest growing regions in Queensland, currently a population of approximately 182,000 people in the region, only just over an hour's flight from Brisbane.
Palm fringed beaches and crystal-clear waters are your playground for fishing and water sports. The region also hosts native rainforests that are popular hiking destinations. With an average annual temperature over 26 degrees, the region offers the best of the Australian experience in typical laid back "Aussie Style".
Mandatory qualifications/Professional registration:
Qualifications from a recognised tertiary institution and experience appropriate for current registration as a Specialist in Medicine with the Medical Board of Australia. In general, this will require fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent postgraduate specialist qualification and eligibility for accreditation as a RACP – approved supervisor.
