About the position:


We are looking for an effective and passionate Development Compliance Coordinator to join the Regulation and Enforcement team in this rewarding and fast paced leadership position.


As an integral part of the leadership team, you will be responsible for leading, supervising, coaching and mentoring a team of professional development compliance officers ensuring that development projects in the local government area comply with relevant legislation, policy and operating procedures.


Working closely with management and key stakeholders, you will promptly triage customer requests, and supervise proactive programmes, undertake investigations, and initiate enforcement action to deliver quality outcomes with a high level of customer service.


To be successful in this role you will need to operate effectively in an environment of competing priorities and tight deadlines, with a capacity to research and learn quickly and adapt to new situations.

You will have excellent personal qualities of leadership, innovation, and motivation along with experience managing and working with a multi-functional team.

In addition, you will have high level communication skills, both written and oral, give clear and accurate advice and information, and be able to interpret existing legislation and complex development and environmental compliance issues.

Equally, you will demonstrate technical aptitude and personal resilience.

This role requires the successful applicant to be on-call after hours and on weekends.

Selection Criteria

  • Tell us about your recognised tertiary qualifications relevant to the role and your extensive experience in a similar position.
  • Detail your experience managing multiple development compliance projects to meet resource, timing and customer requirements in leading a team.
  • Tell us about your experience in leading, motivating and coaching an effective and productive team.
  • Outline your experience in enforcing Council and statutory requirements, including representing Council in the Local and Land and Environment Courts.
  • Current Class C drivers licence or equivalent.
