    Description

    The Project

    John Holland, CPB Contractors and Ghella have started the design and construction work for the Sydney Metro West – Eastern Tunnelling Package.

    The Eastern Tunnelling Package involves building 3.5-kilometre tunnels under Sydney Harbour between The Bays and the Sydney CBD, and excavating Pyrmont and Hunter Street stations. The tunnel boring machines will cross the harbour near the Anzac Bridge, head to the new Pyrmont station, pass under Darling Harbour, and reach Hunter Street in the CBD.

    This opportunity is based in the CBD.

    The role

    We are looking for an experienced Senior Safety Advisor to join our Team. This role will involve supporting the Work, Health and Safety function, implementing safety practices, systems, and procedures under general supervision, reporting to the Safety Manager.

    • Supporting health and safety practices, systems, and procedures, providing coaching and guidance across sites
    • Offering technical input to ensure legal and contractual obligations are managed and communicated effectively
    • Maintaining and implementing the Project's WHS policy, management plans, systems, and procedures
    • Engaging with client representatives, subcontractors, and stakeholders
    • Conducting site inspections, toolbox talks, training sessions, and audits
    • Assisting in incident reporting and investigation

    Skills and Experience

    • Diploma Safety in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent
    • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role in Health and Safety teams, ideally on large Civil Construction, Mining, or Infrastructure Projects
    • Ability to interpret project documents, prepare reports, and monitor compliance
    • Building relationships with people at all levels
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills
    • Knowledge of risk assessment and control monitoring
    • Strong investigative and auditing abilities
