About the John Holland and Gamuda Joint Venture

The John Holland & Gamuda Joint Venture have been awarded the M1 Pacific Motorway from Black Hill to Tomago within the city of Newcastle and Port Stephens Council local government areas.

The major project will provide increased road capacity via the 10km of new dual carriageway, reducing congestion and travel times for residents, improving accessibility for the surrounding road network and improved road safety for all users.

About the Role

As a
Safety Advisor you will be responsible for monitoring and supporting the safety function under general supervision and to provide support and coordination of safety practices, systems, and procedures on the M1 Project, based in Newcastle.

Responsibilities of the role include:

Monitor compliance with the safety systems and procedures within the workplace and provide operational support to the project management team
Conduct routine safety inspections and monitoring work areas
Assist with conducting incident and accident investigations that may require litigation
Assist with workers compensation claims and rehabilitation processes
Research and assist with the development of safety policies specific to the project
Prepare and maintain reports and documentation concerning the aspects of project safety programs

To be successful in this key role we are looking for:

Bachelor degree in Quality, Safety, Environmental, project management and other associated disciplines or Diploma of Work, Health and Safety or equivalent
A minimum of 2 years experience working in a similar position within the Construction and Engineering industry.
Experience monitoring, reviewing and reporting on performance, compliance and defects on a project.
