Salary:
Clerk 5/6, $93,295 to $102,941 p.a. plus employers' contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading


Your role
The Lived Experience Advisor supports the Anti-Slavery Commissioner's work by providing ongoing and real-time access to lived experience expertise.

This role provides input into the Office of the Anti-Slavery Commissioner's (OASC) ongoing policy, stakeholder engagement, awareness raising and advocacy work, with a particular focus on engagement with people with lived experience of modern slavery, and projects and programming engaging frontline workers, for example in the healthcare sector.


What you'll do

As part of this role, you will:

  • provide the Anti-slavery Commissioner with oral and written advice on the lived experience of modern slavery, and how that experience should be considered and addressed in the work of OASC, including through supporting the development of the Office's policies and processes
- work with the other members of the OASC to develop projects, programmes, and policies to strengthen the identification of and support to those with lived experience of modern slavery, including through document review and feedback, direct engagement with stakeholders and, as agreed, external advocacy and communications.
- maintain administrative practices and undertake tasks that contribute to the development of strategic policies which guide program and service development to support the Anti-Slavery Commissioner's execution of statutory functions under the Modern Slavery Act.
- be working in a political, sensitive, and complex work environment where matters must be dealt with appropriately and confidentially.


You will be working in a high paced environment within a larger supportive team where there is a need to manage competing priorities, short deadlines and heavy workloads at times.

The office works remotely so there as an expectation that you are able to work independently and effectively manage your time.

You will have an attention to detail with the ability to assess and prioritise work, escalating as required, to ensure your function is carried out in a timely and efficient way.


Essential Requirements of the role:


  • Experience with Lived Experience of Modern Slavery projects and/ or programs
  • Experience providing advisory inputs to government and civil society on modern slavery policy issues.
  • Experience working with frontline workers, preferably in a healthcare and/or community context.
