About the Company


The Department of Communities and Justice delivers legal, court and supervision services to the people of NSW by managing courts and justice services, implementing programs to reduce crime and re offending, managing custodial and community-based correctional services, protecting rights and community standards and advising on law reform and legal matters.


Corrective Services NSW (CSNSW) delivers professional correctional services and programs to reduce the risk of re-offending and enhance public safety.

It serves a key function of the NSW Communities and Justice Sector by providing effective, safe and humane management of offenders both in custody and in the community CSNSW also works in partnership with other government and community agencies to ensure that offenders and their families are supported.


About the Role
Case Managers work with inmates in a custodial environment in Correctional Centres. They are responsible for the case management of inmates utilising evidence-based practice and assessments. These are designed to maximise opportunities for intervention to address criminogenic, education and wellbeing needs, and to reduce reoffending.

Case managers maintain strong relationships with other stakeholders across CSNSW, who are also engaged with the inmates, to ensure a holistic approach to intervention is undertaken.


Training

Successful applicants will be required to complete the following provided training:

  • Six-week Primary and Certificate IV block training delivered by Brush Farm Corrective Services Academy in Eastwood, either face to face or online.
  • Certificate IV in Correctional Practices if not already obtained with CSNSW.
  • Critical training in security, work safe procedures and other job specific training.
Reporting directly to the Senior Case Management Officer, Case Managers:

  • Manage a case load of up to 50 inmates with varying needs and risk
  • Develop holistic case plans in collaboration with inmates to reduce their risk of reoffending
  • Make referrals to programs, education, employment and services within Corrective Services
  • Utilise evidencebased assessments in working with inmates, and
  • Collaborate with other CSNSW stakeholders to ensure case plan goals are met.

  • You are resilient with excellent communication and written skills and are motivated to make a difference.
  • You ideally, understand the correctional environment and have knowledge of working with people in custody, or are willing to learn.
