Well regarded medium tier building contractor is looking for a Construction Program Manager who was previously a Senior Site Manager or a Project Manager who came from a site based background.

This is a great career role if you are looking to move away from a site based role into an equally valuable position.

You must be highly skilled at construction programming.
You need to be prepared to train and develop other staff in the art of programming.
It is essential to be highly skilled in the use of MS Project.

Qualifications

A medium tier building contractor is looking for a very specific person for a new role within the organization.

They are looking for a Construction Program Manager, but they want someone from a particular background.

The successful applicant would have started a career in construction as a Carpenter and then worked their way up through the ranks to a Leading Hand, Sub Foreperson, General Foreperson and Site Manager.

At this point the ideal person will have either remained as a Site Manager / Senior Site Manager for a considerable tenure or after honing a strong skill set as a Site Manager moved into Project Management.

The type of projects that this construction company is building most are in the educational, aged care, commercial, health care and retail sectors.

Most projects are new build projects; a considerable percentage are design and construct, and they fall in the $20M - $200M+ range.

In essence though the true skill set of this person will be in the craft of building and the extensive knowledge and trained eye for detail in construction methodology and safety.

As part of your duties as a Site Manager you would have been able to expertly write a construction program and were the go-to person in your company for advice and guidance about programming.

An understanding of design, the local subcontractor market and modern construction techniques will be imperative skills.

It is essential that whoever takes on this challenging role must be able to expertly use MS Project and have overall excellent computer and software skills.

This role would be ideal for someone who is perhaps looking to move from being full time on site into the office, with no weekend work required.

This position will also involve a lot of training and development of junior and intermediate staff and working as part of a senior team within a financially secure, established medium tier contractor.

As a Company they work in partnership with the subcontractors, and they have excellent long-term relationships with repeat clients.
