Our client is looking for a solid all-rounder field geologist that can work competently in the field to do all the duties (from field mapping to managing drill programs) and is comfortable with on-the-go accommodation.

There will be non-field periods when you work in the office based in Perth CBD. The initial roster is a campaign-based roster which will be 2:1 down the pipeline. The commodities are lithium, nickel PGE, copper and gold.


Some of the responsibilities are:

  • Conduct geological fieldwork, including mapping & sampling
  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing exploration programs, including drilling campaigns.
  • Perform detailed logging and interpretation of AC/RC & drill core.
  • Utilize geological software to create and update geological maps and crosssections.
  • Gather and interpret data from various sources to aid in developing geological models.
  • Collaborate with other geoscientists to understand and interpret the geological setting and mineralisation controls.
  • Oversee and manage site contractors and field staff, ensuring all activities follow company standards and regulations.
  • Prepare and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for geological fieldwork and data management.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and environmental regulations at all times.
  • Coordinate and oversee the submission of samples to laboratories, ensuring proper handling, packaging, and documentation in line with QA/QC standards.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in stakeholder and community engagement activities as required.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Earth Sciences or a related field is required. Postgraduate qualification is a plus.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in mineral exploration or a related field.
  • Field experience, especially in remote locations, is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of deposit models, regional geology, and exploration techniques.
  • Experience in using geological modelling and GIS software (like Leapfrog, ArcGIS, MapInfo).
  • Familiarity with QA/QC protocols and drilling, sampling, and lab analysis procedures.
  • Proven ability in writing and implementing safety protocols and standard operating procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing field staff and contractors, with strong leadership skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be physically capable of performing strenuous field work in various weather conditions.
  • Willingness to travel and work in remote locations for extended periods of time.
