The Electromagnetic Warfare Intelligence Maritime (EWIS-Maritime SPO) is seeking a highly motivated APS 4 Quality Assurance Officer (QAO) to join the Business Management Unit.

As the APS 4 Quality Assurance Officer, under the direction of the EWIS Business Manager, you will undertake quality assurance activities involving compliance testing and auditing activities, provide recommendations and conduct remedial actions, and complete compliance reports.


The QAO conducts a wide range of governance and business activities, including assisting with corporate reporting and tasking, monitoring business processes ensuring the EWIS-Maritime SPO's adherence to legislative and Defence policy requirements.

In this role you will be exposed to a wide range of business activities relating to running a Systems Program Office (SPO), including task coordination, data management, financial management and a wide variety of business planning and improvement initiatives.


The Business Management Unit is a key unit within the Maritime SPO for internal and external stakeholders, as the Quality Assurance Officer you will have great stakeholder engagement abilities, have good verbal and written communication skills.

You will be able to demonstrate good organisational skills and have an understanding of compliance to relevant legislative frameworks in the Defence environment, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policy requirements.


As the Quality Assurance officer, you will interpret and provide advice on moderately complex administrative matters, communicate with stakeholder and provide reporting of compliance and initiate remedial actions.

Under limited direction, you will undertake research and analysis, conduct reviews, assessments and provide administrative support to achieve business outcomes.

About our Team

EWIS-Maritime SPO currently manages a number of electronic warfare systems fitted to both the surface and sub-surface fleet, such as the Nulka Decoy product and various Sensors and Electronic Attack products in both acquisition and sustainment phases.

The SPO delivers these capabilities to both the Australian Defence Force and United States Navy.

  • Demonstrated experience in quality assurance or administration roles;
  • Demonstrated organisational and administration skills, selfdrive and initiative with excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with good attention to detail;
  • The ability to contribute to the development of plans and processes to enhance the achievement of business outcomes;
  • The ability to respond flexibly to changing situations, including using sound judgement under pressure with the ability to prioritise work to ensure the success of key deliverables; and
  • An enthusiastic attitude and willingness to learn.
