The Project Officer - Resource Recovery will support the implementation of the City's residential food organics recycling service and other residential recycling projects and services.


Key responsibilities of the role will include:


Engaging with strata managers, building managers, residents, and other stakeholders to encourage participation in the food organics recycling service and other resource recovery projects.

Conducting site visits, inspections, audits, and other fieldwork in the community to ensure the successful implementation of resource recovery projects.

Educating residents, staff, and other stakeholders about resource recovery and recycling.

The Project Officer will work within the Resource Recovery Team, who drive the programs, projects, and policies in partnership with the community to achieve the City's residential waste targets which commit to the following by 2030:
Reduce waste generation per capita by 15%.Divert 90% of residential waste from landfill.
Divert 35% of residential waste as source separated recycling.
Achieve a 30% reduction in illegal dumps.

Tertiary qualifications in sustainability, environmental management or related field and demonstrated relevant knowledge and experience.

Demonstrated project management skills and experience in delivering projects within time and budget that achieved measurable results.


Experience working with and fostering relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders to deliver mutually beneficial outcomes.


Well-developed oral and written communication skills with excellent customer service skills and strength of character to deal effectively with difficult customers.

Strong working knowledge of the MS Office suite of programs including intermediate skills in MS Excel.

Hold a current NSW class C Driver's Licence.
