    Job Title: Technical Lead (Policy/Group Protect)

    Role Reports to (role title): Delivery Manager

    Direct Reports: Nil

    Role Specification:

    • To provide operational, industry and thought leadership and expertise in the delivery of systems analysis, design, development, maintenance & ongoing support for application software.
    • The incumbent will help design technical solutions to business initiatives and support software engineers in developing the solution.

    Key Accountabilities:

    • Work collaboratively with other team members
    • Act in the role of Subject Matter Expert or Analyst as required
    • Provide timely and effective advice on progress and ability to meet service and solution deliverables within agreed expectations
    • Provide input to or develop business systems solutions, estimates and specifications
    • Assist with investigations into potential solutions, liaise with relevant technical experts and contribute to solution design and costing
    • Analyse business/system requirements and develop technical design
    • Provide technical leadership and advice to the team
    • Ensure thorough and effective test plans are produced
    • Ensure quality assurance standards and agreed processes are applied within the department team
    • Ensure solution design is aligned with Policy & Pricing way of working and one strategy
    • Participate in and support the rollout of continuous improvement initiatives
    • Identify technical improvements that will benefit the business
    • Provide input into team process improvement initiatives
    • Formulate and recommend changes and/or enhancements to standard processes
    • Work collaboratively maintaining ongoing dialogue and relationships with Stakeholders as part of continued solution development and support.
    • Contribute to continuous improvement of systems and processes
    • Demonstrate effective customer service behaviours
    • Utilise Agile methodologies where appropriate in your work
    • Challenge the development team on their delivery of quality, test coverage and assistance in the creation of development artefacts.

    Experience:

    • A minimum of 7 years of Software Engineering experience with 2+ years' operating in a technical leadership role.
    • Experience with integration solutions (Web services, Mule, APIs) required
    • Insurance or Financial Services knowledge highly desirable

    Key Stakeholder Relationships:

    • Work collaboratively to build and maintain constructive working relationships and engagement with Team Members, Stakeholders, Customers, Partners, Vendors and all levels of Management.

    Key job requirements:

    • Tertiary Degree in Information Technology or related discipline (Desired), or equivalent industry experience (Mandatory)

    Key Capabilities/Technical Competencies (skills, knowledge, technical or specialist capabilities):

    • Act as the Subject Matter Expert if appropriate
    • Able to influence task/project direction by quantifying quality/risk to project/business context
    • Database modelling and design skills.
    • Strong analytical, design and consultative skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication and documentation skills
    • Strong customer service and communication skills
    • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
    • Ability to work independently or within a team framework, and in varying customer environment strong time management, workload management and organisational skills
    • The ability to work with minimal direction and supervision project (PAS) experience is highly regarded.
