About the Team (Continuing Care and Functional Recovery Teams)


We provide comprehensive early intervention services to young people aged 12 to 25 years experiencing a first episode of psychosis or at risk of developing psychosis.

Our committed and compassionate multi-disciplinary team have a rich history of working with young people, their family, and carers to help young people achieve their recovery goals.


As the Team Leader, you will oversee two teams - the Continuing Care Team (CCT) and the Functional Recovery Team (FRT) made up of 10 Clinicians and Senior Clinicians from varying disciplines (including, psychology, social work, mental health nursing, occupational therapy, and counselling.


CCT supports our young people by implementing engaging outreach initiatives, including but not limited to creating meaningful engagement activities for program participants, utilising sensory tools, and community outreach.

The team develops individualised support plans to help each young person achieve their recovery goals and be the primary care coordinator.


FRT plans, develops, implements, and evaluates evidence-based group therapy to support young people in returning to their developmental trajectory and facilitate functional recovery.

FRT clinicians also provide functional assessments and 1:1 intervention to support young people in reaching identified treatment goals. There is a vocational and Education Coordinator who is also a part of the team.


You will have support from an Administration Assistant and also work closely with the medical team comprised of a consultant psychiatrist, senior medical officer, and registrar psychiatrists.


Within headspace you will become part of the leadership team and work collaboratively with the Clinical Services Manager and six other Team Leaders.

You will also be able to link in with the support services of the wider organisation.


About the role
This is a full-time parental leave replacement position to commence in March 2023 and end October 2023.


As the Team Leader of the CCT and FRT Teams, you will provide clinical supervision and governance, leadership, human resources, and day to day operational management across the service.

The role involves the monitoring of clinical aspects of the service delivery and the coordination of a multi-disciplinary team which provides comprehensive, evidence based clinical assessment, psychological and psychosocial interventions consistent with the Orygen EPPIC model of care within the headspace Early Psychosis service.

The base salary ranges between $ $51.24 per hour, depending on your skills, knowledge, and experience + 10.5% super + salary packaging benefits.


About you
You are passionate about working with young people and identify with our values. You have a balance of strong mental health clinical skill and leadership.

You are able to maintain the clinical and professional standard of the service while positively contributing to the culture of the service by valuing staff and individual skill sets while supporting them to grow.


Additionally, you will also possess the following skills and experience:

  • Tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy, Mental health Nursing, Social Work, or Psychology and eligibility for membership of AHPRA or the appropriate professional body.
  • Prior demonstrated experience in complex youth mental health management, preferred trauma and psychosis, and family systems.
  • Demonstrated leaderships skills to provide clinical leadership and manage (including development) of a multidisciplinary team (including human and financial resource matters).
  • Flexibility in coping with organisational change and demonstrated capacity to be innovative in clinical approaches with young people.
  • Highly developed and demonstrable interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), problem solving and negotiation skills, with experience and capacity to manage multiple, simultaneous key stakeholder relationships, some with conflicting priorities.
  • Proven ability with case formulation and treatment planning including delivering evidenced based intervention.
  • Passionate about early intervention for young people and their families and ability to actively engage and work collaboratively with young people and their families/significant others.
