About the Role:


An excellent opportunity to join the CFA Finance and Procurement team during this dynamic time of change is currently available.

We are seeking a highly accomplished and results oriented individual with an in-depth understanding of the State Government budget and forward estimates process.

This role will ensure the effective financial management of the CFA by aligning strategic and corporate plans with financial plans and funding plans.

This includes creating budgets, forward estimates and maintaining CFA's financial sustainability. The role also involves providing financial advice and insight on business strategy and strategic issues.


Reporting to the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis you will be responsible for ensuring that the Financial Planning and Analysis Team effectively controls budgets, provides reporting for the CFA and contributes to improved business performance through integrated financial management.

The role also involves ensuring compliance with relevant sections of the Standing Directions of the Minister for Finance and supporting the Chief Financial Officer in developing, reviewing and implementing the CFA's finance strategy.

Maintaining relationships with key financial stakeholders is essential to this role.


About You:


Bringing a high level of technical ability and experience in a large and complex organisation, you can demonstrate success in your field and excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to quickly identify key issues and simplify complex information for end users.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Business Management or a related field or proven experience in a similar role in a large organisation
  • CPA/CA qualified or equivalent
  • Experience leading a significant business function to deliver high quality outputs and outcomes on time whilst driving continuous improvement aligned with department and corporate strategies
  • Strong strategic thinking capability to influence strategic planning
  • Business acumen, financial credibility and ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders
  • Extensive experience in finance, cash management, budgeting, accounting and business planning in the public sector, including understanding of State Government budget and forward estimates processes
