The Opportunities

As part of our Maritime Operations group, we have multiple Project Planner & Controller and Project Support opportunities.


With multiple opportunities available in both Mawson Lakes and Osborne, the roles will be pivotal in providing project planning, controls and support for Saab's combat system solutions across the complete Royal Australian Navy surface fleet.


More details on the roles are outlined below:

Senior Project Planner & Controller x - Direct and assist the Project Managers and Control Account Managers (CAMs) with the development of project budgets, and in the selection of appropriate earned value techniques for input into the cost and schedule tools.


  • Ensure appropriate integration of project schedules and cost management tools, and timely implementation of baseline and contract changes.
  • Interpret and analyse performance data and performance indices for input of data into reporting.
  • Define the planning, monitoring & controlling process, investigate and implement process improvement and where possible process automation.
Project Planner & Controller

  • Provide advice and guidance to task managers, Control Account Managers (CAMs) and project managers.
  • Establish and maintain a project master schedule in consultation with the project manager and CAMs.
  • Assist project managers and CAMs with the development of project budgets, and in the selection of appropriate earned value techniques.
  • Develop cost performance reports and analyse cost performance data
Project Support Officer x - Provide administrative support to project(s), progress tracking and reporting, and project performance.

  • Preparation of presentations, developing and maintaining document templates, and controlling version and documents distribution.
  • Coordination of project meetings and telephone conference, producing minutes and actions logs for meetings.
About you

  • Your skills and experience will include:_
  • Project Planner & Controller_
  • Demonstrated equivalent experience within a project environment.
  • Tertiary qualifications in an engineering, science or business discipline (desirable)
  • Knowledge and understanding of Project Management processes eg. PMBOK
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in using project management software, preferably Open Plan Professional
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in using cost management software preferably COBRA
  • Proven analytical problem solving skills relating to costs and scheduling performance and reporting.
  • Project Support Officer_
  • Diploma/Certificate in Project Management (desirable).
  • Experience in a project environment (essential) in Defence industry (preferable).
  • Strong planning, analysis and communication skills.
  • Excellent administrative skills, coupled with a general understanding of the project life cycle, project documentation, project standards and methodologies.
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, highly organised and the ability to prioritise and use initiative.
  • Awareness of earned value management principles (desirable).


As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearance.
