Chief Operations Office (COO) is responsible for servicing multiple brands within the Group internationally, delivering a highly flexible operations environment, outstanding customer experiences and better risk outcomes.

This is achieved through end-to-end process management, use of innovative new technologies and a cross-skilled, capable workforce.


Do work that matters:

Business, Institutional and Market Operations (BIMO) provides operational support for Business Banking and IB&M. Our teams include Commercial Banking Operations and Market Operations.


This role will report to the Senior Manager, Risk and Control Enablement (Risk in Change) and will work in partnership with the BIMO business to deliver safe, sound and secure risk outcomes.

You will also work closely with the business banking operations and Market Operations Line 1 and Line 2 Risk team when working on Risk in Change.


  • Risk management framework and tools
  • Risk expertise and coaching
  • Controls that are efficient, effective, sustainable and automated
  • A greater preventative focus rather than detective
  • Risk processes that are simple to understand and apply.

Key Responsibilities for this role includes:

Specialist risk management advice and assessments relating to:

  • Delivered risks from changes to products, processes, technology and the organisation, which affect our customers and stakeholders
  • Risks associated with new or modified third party or outsourced supplier arrangements
  • Assessment of compliance with applicable regulatory obligations relating to the use of technology services and third parties
  • Embedding the Group's policies, processes and frameworks associated with the management of Risk in Change (RiC)
  • Delivery of risk and control enablement initiatives to achieve better risk outcomes.

This includes:

  • Development and enhancement to the Group's policy, processes and frameworks for the management of RiC
  • Driving continuous improvement and alignment of RiC processes and activities across BIMO

We're interested in hearing from people who have:

  • Strong experience in Operational Risk management (preferably within banking/financial services)
  • Experience in risk management, risk consulting, project assurance, project/solution delivery or audit
  • Ability to analyse/identify risks and Influencing and consulting skills, the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to think critically and analytically and use data driven insights to solve problems
  • Facilitation skills
  • People leadership skills, including coaching and guiding others
  • Willingness to learn with a strong team culture
