Description

Assisting with the preparation of instruments and equipment required for autopsy and perform identification checks on deceased persons and be actively involved in body release and reception.

To perform general laboratory duties including receipt of specimens and registration of requests into the laboratory information systems (basic keyboard/data entry skills).

Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated experience or ability to acquire skills to perform basic laboratory duties associated with Anatomical Pathology including handling biological specimens and preparation of basic chemical solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience or ability to acquire skills in the interpretation of request forms together with ability to perform rapid and accurate data entry.
  • Demonstrate high level interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively and work productively in a team environment, and to respond to enquiries and instruction by clients
  • Proven ability to follow instructions and standard operating procedures and work conscientiously and accurately with mínimal supervision after appropriate training
  • Demonstrate exceptional time management skills and the ability to prioritise tasks in order to meet service delivery deadlines.
  • Effectively contribute to a safe & positive work environment and team culture
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements

  • There are no mandatory requirements for this position, however previous experience working in a histology laboratory or with a laboratory information system (LIS) will be highly regarded.
  • In some circumstances and following consultation, Queensland Health staff may be required to participate in 24 hours shift or oncall arrangements.
