The Role

Ventia in partnership with the Australian Defence Force are seeking a Trade Assistant to join our team.

This role is responsible for supporting Plumbing, Electrical and HVAC tradespeople in the execution of planned and unplanned maintenance work under the Defence Base Services contract.

This is a permanent full-time role, Monday - Friday, between the hours of 7:30am and 4:00pm.

There might be some requirements to work outside of these hours if it is a critical repair or maintenance issue.

The role is located at the RAAF Base Edinburgh, South Australia.

Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

Work under limited supervision and/or on your own to complete tasks including affixing signage, cleaning filters, electrical integrity testing (following required training), minor building works such as flyscreens, locks, blinds, clean AC filters, lighting checks (functionality only), meter reads and other tasks not requiring a licence.
Support tradespeople as required with documentation including the recording of inspection results and the reporting of anomalies.
Escort contractors and/or other personnel into restricted areas.
Contribute to the overall site maintenance.
Assist tradespeople to maintain a level of spare parts and equipment.
Ensure all safety and quality documentation are completed as required.
Report all incidents and near misses to develop a culture of open reporting, continuous improvement, and learning.

Skills and Experience:

Mechanical aptitude.
Experience in working with tradespeople in a residential, commercial and/or industrial environment.
Tickets/qualifications: Manual handling, Material handling, Forklift, EWP, Confined Space Entry, Working at Heights. (All highly desirable, however training can be provided)
Must be eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance.
