The RoleDLAs are public service employees appointed and employed by departments and allocated to a particular Minister's Office (MO).
DLAs support the work of Departmental Liaison Officers (DLOs) who provide a central point of contact and facilitate strong communication, efficient and effective flow of information and advice, and a cooperative working relationship between the department and the Minister and their office.
DLAs work in a complex and often ambiguous environment to support the MO in their liaison with the department by managing the flow of information, advice and documents.
DLOs and DLAs are the interface between the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions (DJSIR) and the MO and will gain an insight into the development of public policy at the most senior levels.
DLAs will see first-hand the functioning of Cabinet, Parliament and Executive Government, and will come to better understand DJSIR's role in our system of government.
The position has the following key accountabilities but not limited to:- Accurate use of systems and processes for briefing and other product flows, general communication, record keeping and other support between DJSIR and the Minister's office.
- Active monitoring of correspondence received by the Minister's office and appropriate facilitation of responses via the department or referral to other Ministerial officers.
- Facilitating requests between different Ministerial Offices, such as requests for Letters of Support for programs funded by DJSIR.
- Supporting the DLO to seek timely and practical advice and information about departmental liaison matters, including proactively identifying matters requiring attention and assisting with the management and resolution of both general and specific issues, and to undertake quality assurance on a range of documents, at the direction of the DLO.
- Support and monitor the coordination of advice and deliverables from the SEE Group so the Minister and his office receive cohesive and timely advice.
- Undertake monitoring and evaluation activities to support the establishment, collection and evaluation of evidencebased initiatives delivered through Sport and Recreation Victoria.
The position of Department Liaison Assistant forms a part of the Sport and Recreation Victoria branch in the Sport and Experience Economy group.
