Position Information:


The NSW Department of Education provides, funds and regulates education services for NSW students from early childhood to secondary school, delivering world-class education through its public schools and providing funding support to non-government schools.

We employ, develop and support teachers, leaders and other staff to deliver the best outcomes for students and to advance the wellbeing of Aboriginal people.


About the Role
The Community Liaison Officer supports schools in building vibrant, tolerant and harmonious school communities.

The Community Liaison Officer works to support school communities in the development of approaches to improve social, emotional, health and educational outcomes for students.

The Community Liaison Officer at West Wallsend High School will have the following role and key responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and generate the school's internal and external communications overall with a focus on consistent branding and proactive and responsive messaging.
  • Support the coordination of school activities/events and initiatives including the communication of related information internally and externally.
  • Develop and maintain positive and collaborative relationships with families, school staff, community members, partner primary schools, local businesses and relevant organisations.
  • Create opportunities to develop proactive messaging and/or initiatives that build the capacity of parents/caregivers and families to participate in the school life of their young person.
