Position Information:


The NSW Department of Education provides, funds and regulates education services for NSW students from early childhood to secondary school, delivering world-class education through its public schools and providing funding support to non-government schools.

We employ, develop and support teachers, leaders and other staff to deliver the best outcomes for students and to advance the wellbeing of Aboriginal people.


About the Role


To be successful in the role you will need to have good planning and prioritising skills and good communication skills to work effectively with others.

You will perform a range of tasks in relation to the preparation and maintenance of a Departmental agricultural plot at a secondary or central school that offers agriculture on its curriculum.


The role assists with:

crop production and disposal; machinery operation; maintenance of machinery, tools and equipment; care and supervision of livestock; receipt and storage of supplies; and general farm maintenance.

Essential Requirements
Must have valid motor vehicle licence, and willing to undertake driving tasks;
Must be able to drive a tractor, operate and maintain farm machinery and farm equipment

This is a temporary role for 12 months with possible extension or possible ongoing


Additional School Information (Optional)

Hurlstone Agricultural High School (HAHS) is the only NSW government coeducational selective agricultural High School with boarding facility and large school farm.

There are just over 1000 students enrolled, with a boarding facility able to accommodate at least 180 students, and a large multi-enterprise farm.

HAHS is currently situated within 159 hectares, sharing the educational land with four other departmental entities. Most of the land is used for farming. It is five minutes from the M5 entry/exit and 250m adjacent the Glenfield rail station.

It borders the Hume Highway M5 on the western side, residential homes on the north farm boundary, and adjoins the NSW Transport boundary on the eastern and southern sides.

Both the boarder accommodation and farm are planned for a major upgrade during 2023.
