Who are we looking for?
Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is seeking a Manager, Student Systems to join the Digital Business Solutions, Administrative Division.

This is a core role in the Student & Stakeholder Engagement (SSE) portfolio, under Digital Business Solutions.

This role is accountable for leading a team of IT professionals to ensure that student administration systems remain fit-for-purpose, optimised to end-user needs and aligned with the long-term strategy of DBS, the SSE portfolio and the customers SSE partners with.

About Digital Business Solutions
Digital Business Solutions (DBS) provides support for staff and students across a range of information and technology services.

DBS uses technology to create value for our students and customers through the portfolios of Learning and Teaching, Research and Innovation, and Professional Services.

DBS embraces digital transformation as being fundamental to our service in supporting QUT's aspirations outlined in Blueprint 6.

Digital Business Solutions is responsible for a wide range of services in delivering and supporting digital solutions for QUT.

DBS comprises seven business units with dynamic knowledge and expertise that work collectively with the University's Faculties, Institutes and Divisions to provide quality Digital Solutions and Services in support of both QUT's Strategic Objectives and in core operations for learning and teaching, research and innovation and professional services.


What you need to succeed

You will demonstrate:

Essential

  • Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to postgraduate qualification together with extensive relevant experience within an information technology area; or extensive management and vendor relationship experience and proven management expertise within an information technology area.
  • Proven leadership ability with experience in maintaining a coherent team culture focused on achieving organisational goals.
  • Demonstrated advanced ability to cultivate and maintain productive and collaborative working relationships, partnerships and networks to anticipate and negotiate changes in client expectations and requirements.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, negotiation

and communication skills, including the ability to establish positive working relationships with management, inspire employees and influence internal clients and external organisations in delivering high quality business solution options for QUT.


  • Proven success in contributing to or leading projects (with a focus on process enhancement leveraging technology solutions) that balance the requirements of performance, security and user functionality/friendliness in a diverse and rapidly changing university environment.
  • High level verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to consult and liaise with staff and stakeholders at relevant levels, and to produce high quality reports (including current and future state process documentation, project plans etc).

Desirable

  • Experience with supporting and leading teams that support university student administration systems. This includes systems that underpin student management, international student admissions and timetabling functions or a broad range of stakeholders at a higher education institution.
