**CASUAL Youth Worker

  • Newcastle/Maitland**
    Rotating shifts including sleepovers and weekends.

Must be available to work both shifts= 7am-3:30pm AND 3pm-11pm +Sleep Over**
THE ROLE

Samaritans Youth Services provides an extensive range of services to disadvantaged young people, with a particular emphasis on those at risk.

Services include residential support, outreach, early intervention and activities, employment, out of home care, family and group work, work with schools and information and referral.

Essential Criteria

  • Certificate, Associate Diploma or degree qualification in Youth Work/Community Welfare/Social Work or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated capacity to utilise a strengthsbased and trauma informed care approach in supporting young people experiencing disadvantage
  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to child protection legislation
  • Demonstrated positive communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Commitment to the rights and responsibilities of young people
  • Demonstrated willingness and ability to work within a team
  • Understanding and commitment to WH&S principles and guidelines


The successful applicant must also possess a current NSW Working with Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check, a current Provide First Aid certificate and hold a current/ valid NSW Drivers Licence.


DESIRABLE

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role working collaboratively with young people and their families
  • Demonstrate an understanding of Rapid Rehousing
