    Description

    Applications are invited from experienced candidates for the role of Principal Employee Relations Officer within the Queensland Police Service.

    In this role, you will provide expert strategic and operational advice to clients to facilitate business outcomes and resolutions in relation to industrial issues and dispute resolution. You will also be required to represent the QPS and advocate in the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission. There will be opportunities also to undertake special projects as required. Excellent written communication and analytical skills are essential for the position.

    The core capability requirements for this role are:


    • Provide expert advice to senior management of the Queensland Police Service on contemporary industrial relations, high level dispute resolution, strategic employment frameworks and the management of enterprise bargaining agreements.

    • Provide interpretation advice on awards, enterprise bargaining agreements, legislation and policies to all levels of management and employees.

    • Assist in the negotiation, development and implementation of enterprise bargaining agreements for all employee groups, including negotiating with relevant unions/employee representatives.

    • Resolve grievances and disputes through the provision of advice to management or by independent review and reporting.

    • Prepare briefing material, cabinet submissions and correspondence in relation to industrial relations issues, employment and policy frameworks and best practice.

    • Appear as an industrial advocate in Queensland Industrial Relations Commission, other tribunals and at high level negotiations with a range of stakeholders.
