**About the role: The Head of Product leads a Principal Chapter and is a strong partner to Tribe Leads, Product Leads and other stakeholders across Woolworths.


A significant part of the role is leading and coaching a team of Group Product Managers who are focused on driving specific Tribe outcomes and growing the capabilities of their direct reports.

You will align and support your teams, with accountability for talent acquisition, retention and providing growth opportunities for the talent within the Principle Chapter.

As a Principal Chapter lead you will be part of a Senior Product Leadership team which establishes and evolves frameworks and standards that enable our Product team members to be effective in their roles.

You will also ensure that the team has the space to focus on building their capabilities through meaningful growth and development plans, connecting with others for shared learning, and driving innovation across the business.


You will partner closely with multiple tribe leads in Fulfilled by Woolies Enablement (FBWe), with a focus on Smart Growth and Experience, Convenience & Platform.

As part of your role you will also partner with multiple Tribes across the ecosystem to deliver products (feature-based, technology-based and process improvement) and customer, store and team experiences that can be leveraged across the WooliesX ecosystem.

You will work to identify gaps, risks and dependencies across the Portfolio striving to maintain alignment horizontally across the Tribes.

**On any given day, you could be doing any or all of the following: - Monitoring and managing Voice of Team and output of Listening sessions, actioning key feedback from the Principal Chapter partnering closely with the FBWe Tribe leads and other stakeholders.

  • Developing professional performance plans to ensure clarity on quarterly goals and measures of success, 'always on' personal development conversations that are meaningful to the team member.
  • Succession planning to support the career advancement of team members within the Principal Chapter, and creating space for entry level roles into the FBWe Principal Chapter.
  • Managing talent pipelines to efficiently backfill short term and permanent roles, and leading a consistent approach to formal performance development outcomes and talent calibration across the Principal Chapter.
  • Leading collective training and shared learning programs across the Principal Chapter with a focus on the key capabilities that need to be developed within the team.
  • Participation in Tribe and Big Room Planning to support team and the development of capabilities.
  • Managing the Principal Chapter Budget, focused on investment in team development and connection through team events and offsites.
  • Focusing on FBWe Product Management onboarding to deliver a great team experience.
  • Supporting Group Product Managers and Product Managers in key strategic initiatives they are driving with a focus on Product Strategy development and capability, delivery and engagement.
  • Partnering with Tribe Leads and Group Product Managers to identify key measures of success each quarter, and help prioritise Product initiatives and activities.
  • Identifying and support cross Tribe dependencies and programs of work across the ecosystem, partnering with FBWe Tribe leaders where relevant.
  • Taking ownership of overall team health and wellbeing.
  • Sponsoring a stream of initiatives within the Product Practice that focus on our WooliesX Team 1st strategic priorities.
  • Contributing to Product frameworks, standards and processes and evangelising Product Management and FBWe Product across Woolworths.
  • Participating in quarterly Woolworths Product Alliance sessions to help build Product Management as a Group capability, with focus on standards, frameworks, processes and talent
