About the role


Join us as an AOD Specialist You will deliver intensive inpatient and outpatient treatment and brief interventions to clients requiring support with alcohol and other substance use in a community setting.

You will utilise evidence-based methods in both individual and group approaches to support clients to reduce their substance use and minimise related harms, and to build self-efficacy to support ongoing recovery.

Additionally you will coordinate the intake and assessment of incoming referrals from external AOD services and clients through individual screening and comprehensive assessment of clients wishing to access the program.

Responsibilities include

  • Case management practice, including assessment, monitoring and planning
  • Collaborate with and support clients to develop Individual Treatment Plans and treatment goals based on ongoing assessment
  • Deliver biopsychosocial groupsfor thedayprogram
  • Maintain high quality, up to date clinical case files that meet all legal and professional requirements
  • Provide referralsto the Bridge program and other relevant services to meet client need
This is a permanent full-time position, based in New Town, TAS. Salary and conditions are in accordance with SCHADS Level 5 Award.

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant health service discipline (e.g. Social Work, Counselling or Allied Health) and experience in the alcohol and other drugs sector
  • Excellent case management knowledge and practice
  • Knowledge, skills and experience in providing case management within a trauma informed practice framework
  • Understanding of and commitment to the mission and values of The Salvation Army
  • Previous experience and knowledge in AOD preferred
  • Applies AOD treatment models, approaches, theories and practices when dealing with clients; has welldeveloped knowledge of the issues and challenges clients experience and a clear understanding of harm minimisation approaches
