Position Information:


Chifley College Shalvey Campus is a comprehensive 7-10 campus of the Chifley Collegiate, situated in Mount Druitt in Western Sydney.

On completing Year 10, the majority of our students transition to Chifley College Senior Campus to study Years 11 and 12.

The school is regarded as an inclusive, stable and caring school with Safe, Respectful Learning as our core values. Our future-focused, holistic education is geared to promote academic success, well-being and achieving positive life outcomes for every student. The current school population is 390.

Our students include 35% identifying as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and 29% having English as an Additional Language or Dialect, the majority from Pacific Nations.

Our campus has a Support Unit which caters for 50 students, with two Autism Spectrum Disorder (AU) and two Mild Intellectual (IM) Disability classes and one Tutorial Class.

Our future-focused, holistic education is geared to promote academic success and positive life outcomes for every student.

Our staff are highly skilled and enthusiastic, working closely with parents and community partners to provide quality teaching and learning for every student.

The campus has excellent facilities including an agriculture farm, sound recording studio, dance and drama studio and STEM room. Extracurricular programs in the areas of art, agriculture, mathematics, music and cultural dance are held throughout the year.

The school is well resourced with technology to support teaching and student learning with Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) integrated within teaching programs across the curriculum.


Selection Criteria:

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position.

In addition to the general selection criteria,

  • Demonstrated ability to lead staff to implement the new Science and HSIE curricula, including the collaborative development of innovative, evidencebased teaching and learning programs and assessment practices that meet requirements and cater for the diversity of students.
  • Proven capacity to build positive relationships with students,staff and the broader community to create a traumainformed, supportive learning environment that meets the needs of all learners.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to lead a faculty and connect with all key stakeholders to effectively build and strengthen a collaborative learning culture and support high expectations across the school.
  • Demonstrated capacity to be a dynamic member of the school's executive leadership team, leading data informed initiatives that address whole school strategic directions.

General Selection Criteria:


  • Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
  • Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
  • Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
  • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
  • Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
