Market Operations is a team of around 400 operations professionals who also support our Global Client Lending and Transaction Services and Global Trade Operations.

The Role.
You will join our Commodities & Carbon Operations team supporting both physical and financial commodity trading activity.

This role presents an opportunity to use or build upon your financial markets or commodities industry skillset and develop a broad knowledge across Agriculture, Energy (primarily Carbon), Base & Precious Metal products.

You will provide support across the commodities desks by responding to and resolving queries from both internal stakeholders and our customers.

Dependent upon your experience you might cover commodity trade validation, reconciliations, inventory management and the settlement of both physical and financial commodity derivative transactions.

Note:

This is a 12-month Max Term or Secondment (for internals) opportunity, which is a fantastic way to develop or further enhance your commodity operations experience with CommBank.

On any given day you might:

  • Liaise closely with Commodities Sales and Trading teams to resolve any operational issues that might arise.
  • Complete daily reconciliations & ensure any resulting exceptions are followed through to resolution or escalated accordingly.

  • Remit AUD and foreign currency payments.
  • Generate invoicing and agree delivery details with clients.
  • Be responsible for collecting and updating rate fixings within our systems.
  • Compile data for and prepare management reporting.
  • Take responsibility for a range of monitoring processes.

We're interested in hearing from people who have:
Experience and knowledge of Commodities operations or a Trade Support background, preferably from within a financial institution. Enthusiasm for learning about new and developing markets and being an active part of our growth as a team. A curious mind and a keen interest to look for ways to continuously improve our processes.

You will be passionate about global markets, want to understand the markets within which we operate and stay informed on latest market developments.

You will also have:

  • Experience covering either financial or physical commodity derivatives from any sector or product type
  • A welldeveloped risk mindset, able to proactively identify and understand current and future operational risks
  • Demonstrated ability to have learned and successfully used new and diverse skills in previous roles.
