The Swinburne University of Technology Academic Operations Unit are looking for a Technician to join their team.


The role of the Technician (Nursing and Allied Health) is to provide technical support specifically to the dedicated Nursing and Allied Health laboratories to undergrad and postgrad students, as well as Academic and Research staff, within the School of Health Sciences.


In this role, the Technician will be required to utilise a large scope of skills including the use, maintenance, and calibration of specialised equipment.

Ensure all requirements of Academic practical teaching and research activities in the laboratory settings are met, including the availability of appropriate teaching material, set-up and pack-up of practical classes, and assist with the design and formation of the practical class timetables.


About You

To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Experience in the procurement, operation and maintenance of a wide range of Nursing and Allied Health equipment
  • Welldeveloped word processing, spreadsheet and database skills. Familiarity with the use of propriety software for laboratory or clinical equipment and systems (including, but not limited to, simulation software, teleconferencing software, recording software, and electronic medical records databases).
  • Good understanding of occupational health and safety and other statutory and reporting requirements relevant to clinical and teaching environments
  • Highlevel organisational skills, including the ability to be flexible, prioritise activities and meet deadlines
  • Experience collaborating with various stakeholders (e.g. technical staff and University personnel) to resolve queries and problems accurately, promptly and with a "can do" approach.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Nursing and/or Allied Health teaching and research activities in a higher education environment
  • A relevant degree in Nursing, Allied Health or another related health discipline or significant equivalent industry experience
