We are looking for an NDT Inspector to join our team in Australia.


The main purpose of this position is providing safety management, work site organization, and supervisory leadership on NDT and Inspection work scopes.


Main responsibilities

Inspector

  • To execute certain types of inspection work offshore and onshore.
  • Has a thorough understanding of the requirements involved with Crane Structural inspections, and other miscellaneous inspections.
  • To work safely in line with the HSEQ responsibilities listed below.

Lifting Inspectors:


  • To perform thorough examination and testing of loose items of rigging / lifting equipment and lifting appliances in line with associated company procedures or industry recognised standards.
  • To perform the inspection and testing of critical lifting appliances such as Pedestal Deck Cranes, utility winches, manriding equipment and lifesaving apparatus.
  • Has a thorough understanding of Cargo Carrying Unit (CCU) inspections criteria, DNV standards and Australian Standards.

NDT Inspectors:


  • To carry out NDT tasks without supervision, including the completion of report writing on the inspection database.
  • To carry out additional miscellaneous NDT duties and ropes access work and where appropriate, any other miscellaneous duties where reasonably required.

HSEQ responsibilities

  • It is mandatory that the incumbent is familiar with the Company's HSEQ Policy and takes an active role in the compliance and improvement of Sparrows Integrated Management System. The incumbent must report any incidents, near misses, actual or potential problems with products, services or systems to their Line Manager.
  • The incumbent also has legal responsibilities under countryspecific health and safety legislation to follow all Company processes and procedures and familiarise themselves with the emergency response arrangements applicable to them. The incumbent is also responsible for the health and safety arrangements of subordinates (if any) and for any persons visiting them while on the Company premises.

Qualifications and experience

  • IRATA Rope Access Level 1/
  • UKOOA Offshore Medical
  • BOSIET
  • MSIC
  • Good Communication skills
  • Fluent in Written and Spoken English
  • Good Understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)

NDT Inspectors:


  • Proven experience in NDT Inspections
  • Magnetic Particle Inspection Level
  • Ultrasonic Thickness (welds ideally although not essential)
  • Eddy Current Level 2

Lifting Inspectors:


  • Verified experience in Lifting Equipment Inspections
  • Wire rope inspection
  • Capable of performing Load Testing
  • Accessories
  • Capable of performing Load Testing
  • Appliances
  • Capable of Cargo Carrying Unit Inspection
  • Capable of Cargo Carrying Unit Report Compilation
  • Capable of Load Testing Utilizing Water bags / Solid weights
  • Preferably two of the following:
  • LEEA Lifting Machines Manual
  • LEEA Lifting Machines Power
  • LEEA Runways & Light Crane Structures
  • LEEA Overhead Travelling Cranes
  • LEEA Offshore Containers
