Purpose of the role

  • To support the Students Service team, via administration duties, across the College to provide quality support to
students with individual needs.

  • To support the inclusion of students with individual needs by assisting in the classroom with students with
additional learning needs.


Major Duties

  • To support the Student Services team with direct administration for referral meetings, Student Support Group

meetings, including but not limited to:
o arranging meeting times
- sending out agendas
- taking minutes and
- following up on actions points as required.

  • To arrange other meetings, as requested
  • To maintain records and ensure data is up to date on school network
  • To assist with compliance regarding necessary paper for various departments within the Student Services Team
  • When required, to provide high levels of in class support by assisting the teacher with modification and delivery
- of Curriculum under the supervision of the classroom teacher
  • To work effectively within the Learning Support Team and broader teaching staff, supporting the participation of
- students in an inclusive education system
  • When required, to assist in the classroom with communication between peers and teachers; note taking,
scribing, developing literacy/numeracy skills, and preparation of support materials including those which require
the use of ICT

  • To communicate with classroom teachers, specialist teachers and other relevant personnel, including feedback
for Individual Learning Plan (ILP) meetings where programs are reviewed and goals established

  • To commit to the need for confidentiality in dealing with students, staff and parents

Position Requirements

  • An abilty to maintain the highest levesl of confidentiality
  • Experience working in an administrative role, preferably within a school environment
  • Experience supporting students with specific learning needs, disabilities and diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level of literacy and numeracy skills
  • An ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • An Ability to have various projects operating at once
  • An ability to work independently supporting students in a 1:1 capacity
  • Demonstrated strong organisation and high attention to detail
  • Excellent ability to take comprehensive minutes
  • Excellent typing and ICT skills
  • Ability to following directions and work independently on tasks, whilst maintaining flexibility
  • Ability to respond at all times to students, staff and parents in a warm and encouraging manner
  • Awareness, understanding and sensitivity of other cultures and their practices, beliefs and values
  • Supports diversity and inclusion and champions inclusivity
  • A calm, caring and respectful manner

Experience/Pre-requisites

  • Demonstrated experience in administration support
  • Demonstrated experience in working within roles requiring confidentiality
  • Valid Working with Children Check card
  • Must be eligible to work within Australia
  • Demonstrable passion for working with students who have additional needs
  • Be openminded and flexible to changes in daily programming
  • Demonstrated ability to provide an exceptional customer experience for key stakeholders
  • A Certificate III in Education Support / Certificate III in Education (Teacher Aide/Assistant) or an equivalent
- approved qualification desirable (but not essential)
  • Qualification in adminstration
