The primary purpose of this role is to lead the profitable growth and management of the Financial Lines Business Unit, in accordance with annual goals.
Your Responsibilities:
Achievement of the Financial Lines financial budget
Underwriting Profit
Achievement of the financial lines unit's rate and Loss ratio target's
Developing and implementing the unit's business plan; in conjunction with Financial Lines Management.
Analysing profit potential of the book of business and setting a strategy for capitalising on market opportunities.
Analysing problems of the book, determining appropriate business actions to improve position and implementing those actions, in conjunction with Financial Lines Management.
Meeting growth objectives of business plan including New Business, Rate & Retention targets.
Achievement of target product growth goals.
Successful interaction of unit with, OSD, Claims, Technical Services and Management.
Sales & Marketing:
Develop & implement an effective business development strategy to achieve financial metrics across identified Independent Broker in line with strategy.
Develop and execute business plans for assigned Brokers in accordance with framework
Building and maintaining effective long-term relationships with Producers and Insured's.
Oversee effective Broker sales visit & education plans
Identifying prospective Brokers for appointment to Chubb Agency agreements in partnership with management
Underwriting Quality & Integrity
Ensure unit adherence to appropriate underwriting standards as established by S.B.U
Achieve Underwriting Audit Scores (including Self-Audits) of 80% or higher (B grade)
Maintain appropriate file documentation; ensure accurate risk reports are completed and Underwriting Authority sought in advance where required.
Complete pre-underwriting guides on accounts which required regional/zone approval 30 days in advance or as agreed
Manage effective & appropriate unit communication with NUC and OSD staff
Staff Development
Recruiting, motivating, managing, developing and retaining quality Financial Lines staff
Managing staff performance issues
Implementing Chubb's diverse workplace strategy
Determining training needs within the unit, to be addressed through Financial Lines & Branch training Calendar
Conducting annual performance appraisals with direct reports and overseeing the effective and timely management of this process with both State & SBU management
Ensuring that all staff members understand their individual strengths and development needs
Knowledge of staff's career concerns and ambitions
Taking all practical measures to ensure that the workplace and persons under your control are safe and without risk to health
Expense Control and Service Standards
Managing Financial Lines, Commission Plan and negotiating with producers to achieve budgeted Commission levels
Adhering to travel and promotional budgets for Financial Lines, including monthly T&E submission process.
Using cost-effective resources such as Loss Control, Premium Audit, Claims, Customer Services as well as underwriting information reports and marketing materials
Ensure unit adherence to expected Broker Service Standards
Qualifications:
Your Skills & Experience
Thorough Underwriting knowledge in Financial Lines
Proven record of successful underwriting management of a portfolio of Financial Lines business
Proven record of successful growth of profitable specialty business, through both new business and renewal growth
Desirable:
Good profile in the broker market with proven marketing success in developing key broker relationships and achievement of GWP growth.
