The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks.


We have an opportunity for a qualified and experienced
Mechanical
Supervisor to lead our site Maintenance crews
. Reporting directly to the Maintenance Superintendent, the Supervisor is responsible for providing effective supervision, leadership and technical expertise to a team of Fitters, Technicians, Boilermakers, Storeman and Contractor personnel.

The key responsibility is to ensure that all equipment is maintained to prescribed standards maximising equipment availability, desired productivity and output levels.

This role operates on an
8 days on 6 days off, 7 nights on 7 days off roster.


Main responsibilities;

  • Lead and implement maintenance processes and strategies to ensure tasks are completed in a time and cost effective manner.
  • Manage productivity levels of the maintenance team by setting KPI's and ensuring targets are achieved in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and control budgets and budget forecasts to meet production targets.
  • Engage and collaborate with Supervisors on the planning and execution of maintenance schedules and activities.
  • Report on completed work with recommendations for appropriate corrective action.
  • Maintain reports, records and work procedures within SAP related to the Mechanical Maintenance function.
  • Undertake failure analysis and preventative maintenance forecasting in collaboration with the Superintendent Mechanical Maintenance and Mechanical Maintenance Supervisors.
  • Seek opportunities to improve maintenance processes increasing equipment utilisation through improvement plans.
  • Engage with the Mechanical Maintenance team throughout the course of each shift when on Site to ensure personnel any issues or incidents are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Prioritise work according to business requirements ensuring resources are available and used in a manner that promotes the greatest return on safety and production.
  • Raise and approve Maintenance notifications in a timely manner to ensure maintenance scheduling/goods & services purchasing can occur in an accurate and consistent manner and all costs align with department budgets.
  • Ensure team rosters are managed with adequate coverage onsite at all times seeking approval for additional contractor support when required.
  • Adhere to internal department processes, leading by example and promoting importance of compliance to the Maintenance team.
  • Assess daily tasks/work plan and ensure team have completed the correct documentation before commencing tasks, (Take 5's, JHA's) approving all documentation and risk assessments prior to work being conducted.
  • Monitor and review ongoing shutdown plans ensuring planned tasks are being completed in a timely manner and safety is not compromised.
  • Monitor and manage critical hold points on jobs ensuring all requirements have been met and documentation filled in correctly.
  • Conduct quality audits on execution of critical tasks ensuring processes are understood and being adhered and the task is being completed safely and correctly.
  • Review, identify and report process improvements on actual work completed with recommendations for appropriate corrective action provided to necessary stakeholders.
  • Identify and communicate to appropriate personnel any issues or incidents during shift ensuring compliance to the Karara Incident Management Procedure at all times.
  • Assist in preparation for shutdowns ensuring adequate labour, hire equipment, tools and work lists are organised.

Essential Qualifications and experience;

  • Mechanical Trade Qualification
  • Class 'C' 'Drivers License (WA)
  • Tickets: Confined Spaces & Working at Heights
  • Section 44 Appointed Persons (desirable)
  • Strong supervision experience leading a medium to large team
  • Sound knowledge of maintenance management, strategy development and implementation
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, plan and execute maintenance activities in a deadline driven environment
  • Must have Australian Citizenship or hold a valid visa with permission to work
  • National Police clearance
