EL1 Assistant Director Finance ?

Our Federal Government client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join their team as an Assistant Director. This is a full-time position within the Finance Office, reporting to the Chief Finance Officer. ? The successful candidate will play a key role in transforming the finance and procurement function through the implementation of innovative, digital, streamlined solutions within this Federal Government Department.

Responsibilities:

Assist in the management of the department's financial framework and control structures, ensuring accuracy and integrity of general ledger records. ?
Ensure compliance with statutory reporting, contractual obligations, auditing, and tax requirements. ?
Oversee and manage financial processing, operations, and treasury functions, including financial transactions, accounting duties, reconciliations, and asset management. ?
Prepare financial statements, reports, budgets, and analysis for internal and external stakeholders. ?
Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and accountable authority instructions. ?

Eligibility:

Tertiary qualifications in accounting/finance or related discipline. ?
Hold (or substantial completion towards) a CA or CPA qualification. ?
Obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 Security Clearance. ?

Skills and Knowledge required:

Knowledge and substantial experience in the preparation of financial statements, reports, and internal budgets. ?
Ability to provide high-level technical advice on accounting standards within the Commonwealth Financial Framework. ?
Proven ability to manage monthly financial operations and reporting. ?
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear and concise information. ?
Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to establish positive working relationships with team members and stakeholders. ?
