Assistant Director - Forrest

The Role

The Assistant Director is responsible for supporting the Director in the day-to-day running of the centre, developing strong, productive relationships with children, families, staff and the community, and supporting the team to provide engaging learning environments that support children to think critically and direct their own learning.

This position is a key member of the CS#1 and Children's Service leadership groups and will contribute to and enjoy the support of the CEO, Executive Team and CS#1 Program Managers and Service Directors.

The successful applicant will also fill the role of Educational Leader which is an additional $2.03 per hour.

  • Full time (76 hours/fortnight)
  • Children's Services Award, Children's Services Employee Level
  • Base hourly rate from $31.81/hour, plus 10.5% super.

The Centre
Forrest Early Childhood Centre has three distinct pods with two rooms each.

  • Tadpoles: Six weeks15 months old
  • Froglets: 15 months 2 years old
  • Possums: 3 years old
Sugar Gliders: - 3 years old

  • Dingoes: 4 years old
Tasmanian Tigers: - 6 years old


Assistant Director requirements:


  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care, or ACECQA approved equivalent
  • ACT Working with Vulnerable People card
  • Current first aid certificate, including asthma and anaphylaxis
  • Sound knowledge of the Education and Care Services National Law, Education and Care Services National Regulations and the Early Years Learning Framework
  • Current driver licence and own car (desirable)
  • Previous experience as an Assistant Director, or experience leading a team (desirable)
