ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Deputy Principal, the
Performing Arts Teacher will involve delivering both a theoretical and applied skills development components.
- Contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of developmentally appropriate Performing Arts curricular, suited to learning personal skills that enhance students' sense of self-worth and independence
- Be responsible for all aspects of the planning, preparation and delivery of effective learning and teaching programs across the strands of Performing Arts.
- Have a high level of knowledge and understanding of contemporary technologies. A sound knowledge of equipment and the skills required to work with them. Be able to teach across a range of disciplines as part of the Performing Arts curriculum. Willingness to contribute to the development of emerging technologies. A high level of safety and attention to detail
- Prepare, organise, manage and deliver the School's annual musical production.
- Promote active student participation in the Performing Arts.
- Select appropriate performances consistent with School values.
- Organise a calendar of events and opportunities for Performing Arts.
- And other duties as requested
ABOUT YOU
Qualifications
- Current Full VIT Registration
- Degree qualification(s) consistent with the role
- Post graduate Special Education qualification (desirable)
Knowledge and Abilities
- Knowledge of Special Education principles, theories and assessment.
- Knowledge of differentiated instruction.
- Ability to maintain compliance with all Federal and State Regulations regarding the education of students with disabilities.
- Ability to organise and coordinate work.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
- Ability to engage in selfevaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with peers and colleagues.
- Adhere to a high level of professional and ethical standards
- Strong organisational, communications, and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with contemporary teaching practice specifically for those students who have learning disabilities.
