ABOUT THE ROLE


Reporting to the Deputy Principal, the
Performing Arts Teacher will involve delivering both a theoretical and applied skills development components.

The role of Performing Arts Teacher will include but is not limited to:

  • Contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of developmentally appropriate Performing Arts curricular, suited to learning personal skills that enhance students' sense of self-worth and independence
  • Be responsible for all aspects of the planning, preparation and delivery of effective learning and teaching programs across the strands of Performing Arts.
  • Have a high level of knowledge and understanding of contemporary technologies. A sound knowledge of equipment and the skills required to work with them. Be able to teach across a range of disciplines as part of the Performing Arts curriculum. Willingness to contribute to the development of emerging technologies. A high level of safety and attention to detail
  • Prepare, organise, manage and deliver the School's annual musical production.
  • Promote active student participation in the Performing Arts.
  • Select appropriate performances consistent with School values.
  • Organise a calendar of events and opportunities for Performing Arts.
  • And other duties as requested

ABOUT YOU

Qualifications

  • Current Full VIT Registration
  • Degree qualification(s) consistent with the role
  • Post graduate Special Education qualification (desirable)

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Special Education principles, theories and assessment.
  • Knowledge of differentiated instruction.
  • Ability to maintain compliance with all Federal and State Regulations regarding the education of students with disabilities.
  • Ability to organise and coordinate work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
  • Ability to engage in selfevaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with peers and colleagues.
  • Adhere to a high level of professional and ethical standards
  • Strong organisational, communications, and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with contemporary teaching practice specifically for those students who have learning disabilities.
