ABOUT THE ROLE


The Associate Director Nursing and Midwifery Services (ADNMS) is responsible for the provision of expert professional and clinical leadership in the strategic and operational management of Nursing and Midwifery services and Nursing and Midwifery Workforce within NSW Ambulance.

As a Director within NSW Ambulance, this position will contribute to achieving overall strategic and operational objectives.

The Associate Director Nursing and Midwifery Services advises Managers, Directors, and members of the Executive on nursing workforce matters, nursing clinical matters, and ensures NSW Ambulance meets the relevant statutory requirements.


The Associate Director Nursing and Midwifery Services contributes to NSW Ambulance clinical governance and patient safety activities to enable effective delivery of safe, high quality and value-based health care.

The position monitors clinical standards for nursing clinicians within NSW Ambulance and is responsible for the credentialing of NSW Ambulance nurses.

This is achieved through establishing appropriate, integrated clinical policy objectives, and establishing frameworks for clinical practice.

Implementing appropriate clinical professional development programs across the multi-disciplinary health workforce and embedding a culture of professional practice, ethics, and sense of professional identity across its practitioners will be a key requirement.


The Associate Director Nursing and Midwifery Services will also bring current clinical nursing or midwifery experience and expertise to the position, which will strengthen the impact of this new role within NSW Ambulance.

The ADNMS will provide competent and credible clinical leadership to nurses within the organisation, role modelling the values and behaviours that are required for a contemporary nursing and midwifery clinical workforce.

The position holder must ensure all relevant clinical statutory and other legal requirements and obligations are met for NSW Ambulance within the allocated resources.


The ADNMS has primary responsibility for:

  • Professional nursing and midwifery matters at NSW Ambulance
  • Nursing and Midwifery Clinical Resources
  • Credentialing and scope of practice for nurses and midwives
  • Supporting the nursing and midwifery workforce within:
  • Virtual Clinical Care Centre (VCCC)
  • Aeromedical Operations
  • Clinical Operations
  • Nursing and Midwifery Education and Training
  • Patient safety and clinical governance

ABOUT YOU

We're interested in hearing from people who have:

  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and "Authority to Practice" and post graduate qualifications at a Masters level relevant to the position or equivalent experience
  • Broad and recent nursing/ midwifery clinical experience especially at an advanced nursing practice level, and nursing/ midwifery leadership expertise in an acute setting relevant to NSW Ambulance, including proven experience in successfully planning and achieving outcomes, incorporating current health service governance, continuous improvement and patient safety focuses
