Assistant Maritime Warfare Instructor HMAS Watsons Bay
ACTIONS
Cleared are working with the Royal Australian Navy and are looking to speak to an NV1 Assistant Maritime Warfare Instructor.
The purpose of this position is to assist BTF Instructors provide advanced tactical and navigational training to the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) Junior Officers, using Bridge Simulation as the primary evaluation training aid.
Position Description
Provide Bridge Simulator Instructor support services, as required throughout the year, For two 22 week training periods (105 training days) within the training year, the role will be required to work a shift-roster week of days, afternoons or nights.
Other hours or directions may be provided from time to time, particularly facilitate further training for students or during periods of assessments.
Maintain detailed knowledge of the RAN Warfare procedures and RAN Navigation Fleetwork (Ship Manoeuvring) as well as a detailed understanding of operations room positions and tasks.
Assist with the configuration of the Bridge Simulator system in preparation for training, including but not limited to, system, bridge, and auditorium setup.
Carry out tasks, as directed by TA-MW, through OIC SNW, OIC BTF, Contract Manager, Training Lead and the Lead Instructor.
Complete Assistant Instructor Induction Program which includes completion of Polaris system training.
Adhere to the ADF & Serco value system, Code of Conduct, and rules aboard HMAS WATSON.
Required Skills:
- The expected hours of the role are Monday-Friday.
- During extensive training periods support may be required outside normal office hours. Otherwise, the hours of attendance will be 0730 to 1600 Monday the Thursday and 0730 to 1300 Friday.
- The individual will have to spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers, which could cause muscle strain.
- The role may require travel.
- Fully vaccinate against COVID 19 in accordance with state health regulations
Desired
- Essential technical and professional skills, knowledge, and qualifications the incumbent of this position MUST hold and maintain a defence security clearance of SECRET, or above.
- An Assistant Instructor shall have a proven Combat System Operator (CSO) or Electronic Warfare (EW) qualification (have ideally gained the rank of LS, CIS-C, Skill Grade 3 with 12 months contemporary sea experience).
- An Assistant Instructor shall have at least 6 years' service in uniform.
