About the role


We are looking for a capable and motivated
Mechanical Fitter OR a 3rd - 4th year Apprentice looking to take up an ongoing position as a qualified Fitter with the successful completion of their training.

In this role, you will be undertaking a wide range of duties related to repairs, preventative maintenance and installation of industrial mechanical equipment over the entire icon Water asset base.

About your new role
Icon Water has multiple opportunities for capable and hardworking individuals to join as our Mechanical Fitter. If you are keen to kick-start your career in the water and sewerage industry, then this is the right opportunity for you

As a member of our collaborative team, you will undertake preventative and reactive maintenance task on our mechanical equipment.

  • Key responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
  • Plan and co-ordinate task completion using available resources and working within operational & procedural constraints and systems availability.
  • Complete required documentation and reporting in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with a wide range of people.
  • Ability to identify and recommend improvements to maintenance efficiency.
  • Participate in an emergency oncall roster as required to provide a 24 hour, 7 day a week breakdown and maintenance service. Usually rostered on call 1 week in 10.
  • Ability to identify workplace hazards, conduct risk assessments and perform work in accordance with implemented safe work practices and procedures.
  • Recognised Tradesman's Certificate in Mechanical Fitting/Turning.
  • Demonstrated ability, skills and experience to perform maintenance duties on various types of pumps, valves, gearboxes and other process industry equipment.
  • Experience in machining and welding techniques.
  • ACT Class C Drivers Licence or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience working under and in accordance with a comprehensive safety system.
  • Willingness and ability to participate in appropriate training programs and emergency oncall rosters.
  • Ability to undertake physically demanding work including working in confined spaces. A preemployment medical will be completed as part of the recruitment process.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and cooperate with other trades, individuals and work groups.
  • Ability to work under limited direction and supervision both as an individual and as a member of a small, selfdirected work group.

  • NSW Construction Induction
  • First Aid / CPR
  • Confined Space Entry
  • Work at Heights
  • Medium Rigid Vehicle
  • Forklift
  • Hyab
  • Dogman
  • EWP
  • Asbestos Awareness
  • Crystalline Silica Exposure Prevention
