Facilities Management is a unit within Estate Management that is responsible for the provision of operational support services, facilities management, repairs and improvements.

The delivery of all building maintenance services, repairs and minor works projects for University clients is managed by Facilities Management.

The Facilities Management team work closely with Faculties, Schools and Divisions to ensure that the built assets are effectively and efficiently managed, maintained and fit for purpose for their requirements.

The Fire Compliance and Hydraulics Supervisor role sits within the Facilities Management and Building Maintenance team within Estate Management.

The team is responsible for the provision of contracted services for building maintenance and compliance, facilities management, repairs, improvements and associated services to ensure a safe and secure campus environment.

The delivery of all building management and facilities services, repairs and minor works projects are managed by Facilities Management via contracted specialist external service providers.


The Fire Compliance and Hydraulics Supervisor provides operational and contract management of Fire compliance related works, Hydraulics building services and infrastructure for the University's built assets.

The role of the Fire Compliance and Hydraulics Supervisor works in conjunction with the Facilities Services Discipline Leads. The position also provides operational support for the project management and the estate improvement team.

This position reports to the Manager, Building Maintenance and has no direct reports.


Who You Are

  • You will have an appropriate building services trade and/or facilities management qualification with extensive experience in Fire compliance and Hydraulic services, building maintenance, operational management, planning, budgeting and financial management.
  • Demonstrated experience in operational management of Fire Compliance and Hydraulic Systems maintenance and repair contracts in a large and complex property portfolio.
  • Demonstrated experience in contract and contractor management and operational supervision including developing and maintaining professional working relationships.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, organisational and communication skills with excellent track record in providing quality customer service. This includes a strong understanding of FM as a valueadded service and the ability to work in a collaborative effort to create opportunities and develop solutions.
  • Demonstrated success working effectively and collaboratively on initiatives with a range of people at different levels within an organisation.
  • Excellent negotiation and problemsolving skills with a proven capacity to develop solutions.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
  • Good working knowledge of relevant building standards, such as NSW Codes of Practice, AS3000, Australian Standards, WHS Standards, BCA etc.
  • A valid NSW class 1a driver's licence.
