The Position

St John of God Geelong Hospital is the largest private hospital in regional Victoria providing a comprehensive range of acute services to the rapidly growing coastal city. The modern and up-to-date hospital has a 24/7 accident and emergency department, a comprehensive surgical program supported by a 12-bed critical/intensive care unit, rapidly growing cardiology, medical, rehabilitation, and cancer services. We also offer a high quality maternity service with special care nursery


We are currently hiring for
Nursing Assistants to work in collaboration with the wider health care team, assisting the Registered Nurses/Midwives to provide delegated aspects of patient care.

Elements of direct and indirect patient care will be delegated in accordance with the professional judgement of the supervising Registered Nurse and in accordance with the level of achieved educational preparation and assessed competency of the Nursing Assistant.


  • A willingness and capacity to embrace the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care.
  • Completed undergraduate Nursing studies of 12 month duration with the ability to demonstrate competence and perform the skills contained with the position description and Task List.
OR

  • Completion of Certificate III in Health Services Assistant (Acute Care) which includes the Module of HLTAIN001 Assist with Nursing Care in an Acute Care Environment (e.g. HLTAIN001).
  • Sound experience in the provision of primary nursing care.
  • Ability to work at the supervision and delegation of a registered nurse.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a dynamic team.
  • Sound communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Good interpersonal skills with a friendly disposition.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills ability to effectively manage one's time and resources to ensure that work is completed efficiently.
  • Good assessment, problem solving skills.
  • High level of motivation and willingness to learn.
  • Customer focus on providing best patient care.

The Benefits:

Hourly: $33.18 to $34.20 pro rata, plus 11% superannuation
