About the role:

The Data Analyst role sits in the Centre Data Team, within the Post Award & Program Management section of Programs Branch.

The Centre Data Team (Data Requests and Analysis Team) is responsible for responding to internal and external data requests, as well as maintaining the Trend Visualisation Dashboard and Grant datasets on the Agency website.

The Centre Data Team, works collaboratively with the ICT Services Branch, and the Data Analytics and Modelling section to support the Agency in unlocking the potential of its data and drive for an innovative and data-led culture.

The Centre Data Team supports the Agency to inform research policy advice to the Australian Government, delivering the enterprise reporting, data governance and data capability functions and to promote a data-driven culture.

The Data Analyst will collate data from a variety of sources and use data, code and automation to answer questions for colleagues and senior decision makers, as well as working with a variety of stakeholders to develop products to meet the Agency's reporting needs.

The Data Analyst will translate their analysis into reports and dashboards to present their findings to a varied audience.

This is a unique opportunity to be a key contributor into the design and delivery of policies, frameworks and infrastructure to uplift the Agenc's data capability.

Duties:

Expertise across a range of data analytics methods and tools and a detailed understanding of data analysis, translation and visualisation concepts
Sound technical skills, including proficiency with or ability to learn various business software and data management products, such as Visual Studio/SQL Server and Power BI
Strong communication skills, with the ability to appropriately engage with internal and external stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure outputs meet their expectations
Excellent writing skills, with the ability to translate findings from analysis to written reports for both technical and nontechnical audiences
Strong organisational conceptual, analytical and problemsolving skills, including strong attention to detail and the ability to develop and document consistent processes
