The Opportunity

The Nutrition In Early Life Team (previously known as the Childhood Allergy and Immunology Research Team) here at the Telethon Kids Institute conducts research investigating nutritional strategies for child disease prevention including clinical trials and translatable research activities.


We are now looking for a Post-doctoral Researcher to support the growth of the maternal nutrition program within the Nutrition In Early Life team.


The Role

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct nutritional analysis and manuscript preparation of maternal food frequency questionnaire data and determine associations with infant allergy outcomes.
  • Manage data analysis processes and manuscript preparation of secondary outcomes (pregnancy and birth) and exploratory outcomes from an existing maternal nutrition intervention trial.
  • Contribute to grant writing and support various translation activities.


Based at our modern office facilities co-located within the Perth Children's Hospital in Nedlands, this part-time (0.5 FTE) position will be offered for 14 months in the first instance.


About You
This position would suit an early-career researcher with a strong interest in maternal nutrition with exceptional written communication skills.

Along with that, the key to your success will be your experience/ skills in the following:


  • Completed PhD in a nutrition related topic.
  • Experience with nutritional data analysis and manuscript preparations with at least 2 previous publications as first author.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills including evidence of academic writing (grants submissions/reports, ethics submissions/reports, and publications).
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing deadlines.
  • Welldeveloped conceptual and analytical skills including ability for strategic thinking and develop appropriate strategies.
  • Knowledge of potential maternal nutritional impacts on child health outcomes highly regarded.
