The Opportunity
***The Rio Tinto Children's Diabetes Centre (a JDRF Global Centre of Excellence) is a Research Centre that aims to improve the lives of children and young adults living with type 1 diabetes (T1D) by integrating research, education and clinical care.


Led by two of Australia's foremost diabetes researchers and clinicians, Professors Liz Davis and Tim Jones, the Centre includes researchers based at the Telethon Kids Institute's Diabetes Research Team, the Department of Endocrinology Diabetes Service at PCH, and another five national and international partner institutions.

We now have an exciting position for a Post-Doctoral Research Officer in Implementation Science.

The position will focus on developing interventions that facilitate the uptake of evidence-based research findings and their translation into clinical practice as improved models of care for children with type 1 diabetes (T1D).


In this highly collaborative role, you will work closely with researchers, clinicians, hospital staff, policy makers, and patients and their families.

As part of the wider program of the JDRF Global Centre of Excellence for Diabetes Research, you will also collaborate with multidisciplinary local, national and international researchers.


Some of your duties will include:

  • Assisting or leading the development of research projects, including reviewing and collating background knowledge, establishing collaborations, and developing methodological concepts.
  • Ongoing review of literature relating to all aspects of type 1 diabetes, keeping up to date with new and current findings.
  • Presenting findings at local, national, and international conferences and scientific meetings.


Located at Perth Children's Hospital, this role will be offered on a full-time basis for a period of 2 years.


About You
***The successful applicant for this role will have a PhD in a relevant discipline with a strong understanding and experience in knowledge translation and implementation science.

Along with this, you must also be able to demonstrate the following:


  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience of working with range of stakeholders across healthcare including policy makers, hospital executives, clinicians, patients and families.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills including evidence of academic writing (grants submissions/reports, ethics submissions/reports, and publications).
  • Experience with quantitative data collection, data management and use of statistical software for data analysis (E.g. SPSS or NVivo or similar).
