About the Role:


The Office of the Victorian Information Commissioner (
OVIC) provides independent oversight of the Victorian public sector's collection, use and disclosure of public sector information.


Reporting to the Assistant Commissioner, Public Access Operations and Compliance, the Manager, Complaints and Professional Standards is an integral senior member of OVIC's Public Access branch.

This branch is responsible for OVIC's Freedom of Information (FOI) review, complaint and professional standards functions in accordance with the _Freedom of Information Act 1982_ (Vic) (the
FOI Act), and comprises three teams:

- the Registry and Case Support team;
- the Complaints and Professional Standards team; and
- the Reviews and Informal Resolution team.


The role involves leading and managing the Complaints and Professional Standards team to drive performance and ensure FOI complaints and professional standards engagements, and any other relevant matters arising from the FOI Act, are dealt with in an efficient and timely manner.


The successful applicant will:

- be an experienced team leader with complaint handling or dispute resolution experience, who can confidently interpret, apply, and explain FOI law and policy;
- cultivate productive working relationships and exemplify personal drive and integrity;
- handle complex complaints and negotiate outcomes using dispute resolution strategies.
